Mr Hu Jin Tao (the president of china, in case you don't know) came to my school yesterday!:D yippee! And choir got to perform!!
Anw, on Thursday, we kinda finalised everything, from standing position to… everything else. So on Friday morning, I woke up at like, 5.30(which is SUPER early to me) and reached school at like, 6.25. and it turned out that the security checks thing was not even set up yet. But it was quite weird to see the things that you only see in airports in the entrance of school. But anw, when they finally opened it at around 6.40, we had to queue for quite long, cos there were quite a lot of performers and they all had bags of stuff, like me. Which, the security check person opened my bag to check my make-up -.-
Then, when I finally got to m3-10 (m3-01 is still better than m3-10) and changed, before I had time to do any make-up or tie my hair properly, we had to go down to the GO, cos there were quite major changes. The place and direction we were standing changed, which also meant a change in our moving. They also decided to let 10 choristers take photo with Mr Hu and his people, but then only the sec 4s were chosen, cos I t was the sec 4 student conductor who decided who could take photo, anyway. And after we kind of got all the changes, went back to m3-10.
Then did make-up and chunked huge lumps of gel onto my hair, which was quite… ahem, considering the number of tiny clumps my gel had turned into- it got seriously damaged during the event of bringing it to school a couple of times in my bag. Haha. But anw, I looked quite toot after that, cos my hair was like, all up and everything. Then after that, we had warm-ups, during which Lo Yee devised a new technology of seniors shaking juniors to make us sing louder. Then we just started to sit around waiting for Mr Hu's arrival and began taking pictures!<3 … fast forward…
Went down for D-performace. Just about a minute or two before he came down from the library and we had to start clapping, I heard a teacher telling my 'temporary' teacher in charge (mr mac was in Malacca) that they needed 10 more choristers for photo-taking. Anyway, Mr Hu finally came down and we sang the first song, which, I think we knew, cos he started kinda clapping when we sang (that's what I saw on a video which was posted on facebook. And then he dais something, which I couldn't hear, but NYC replied, xie xie zhu xi! (we practiced one laa, of course!) oh. And you know, when he came, I was super super shocked by the huge number of people. They filled like, more than all the space in the place near the GO, when choir only took up 1 line. Then after we finished singing, the media started rushing towards the field, which was where he was heading. And they are seriously damn rough laa. One whole group of them just rush up and push their way through the crowd. And I was standing at the side and was totally taken by surprise by their impoliteness. Omg. I really hate news reporters, journalists and photographers now.
Ok, then we moved off to the back of the GO to wait for the photo-taking. Then the teacher was asking who wanted to take photo. Then stacy, out of her enthu-ness over SOMEONE, decided to go, and I thought I shouldn't miss the opportunity, especially taking opportunity of that moment of hectic and rush to volunteer to go, before the seniors start picking people to go and leave the sec1s out again. And true enough, it was really really hectic because we didn't know where to stand, but I remembered seeing the photo-taking plan (was standing beside teacher when she told my teacher ic about the plus 10 more choristers thing) and the second 10 of us ran to the other side just in time. Hahas. So I took photo with Mr Hu Jin Tao!!!
And I didn't know that we were not supposed to join the choir after taking photo, so I ran back to join them for the second song. Which was really stupid, cos I looked so unglam running across the road back to the GO. But oh well. Should have stayed there. Could have had a better view of him. Hahaha. Cos he boarded the car on the other side of the road, and from the GO side, we could only see his head and his (politically) waving hand sticking out of the 'roof' of the car before he disappeared within the confines of his car which had hard-to-see-through windows.
Okay. I'm sorry if I'm making such a big deal of the president of china coming to my school. But seriously, how often does he even come to Singapore, let alone visit your school? When would you ever get to see him close-up and have him standing there listening to you singing and even (appear to) enjoy it? And even more, when do you ever get a chance to appear on the (China's) news?? Oh well, some people in my class were lucky enough to be on the tv news AND THE FRONT COVER OF TODAY'S STRAITS TIMES, but there wasn't I thing about a choir at all in both news. So don't be too sad that they missed you by just 1 person in the picture, Eliana. Haha
Whoa. Long post man. One and a half pages long in word. Hahas. Time to end this! But just wanted to say,
The ministry of foreign affairs don't exactly have a good life…
